Blobster Privacy Policy

Blobster is a local-first browser extension for opening, formatting, inspecting, editing, searching, and copying structured developer data in the browser.

Effective date: June 15, 2026

Data Blobster Handles

Blobster may process the following data when you choose to open it or when a supported raw structured page is detected:

  • Local files selected with the file picker or drag and drop.
  • Text pasted into Blobster.
  • URLs you ask Blobster to open.
  • Selected text, link targets, or page text opened through context menus.
  • Raw structured page content such as JSON, YAML, TOML, XML, CSV, TSV, NDJSON/JSONL, Markdown, .env, JWT, HAR, and OpenAPI documents.
  • Extension settings and optional recent-document metadata.

Blobster processes this data locally in your browser.

Data Blobster Does Not Collect

Blobster does not upload document contents, pasted text, API responses, selected text, edited documents, or local files to any server.

  • No accounts.
  • No cloud sync.
  • No telemetry or analytics.
  • No advertising.
  • No public paste or share URLs.
  • No remote executable code.
  • No backend service operated by Blobster.

Local Storage

Blobster stores settings locally, such as theme, view preferences, pane size, and auto-open preferences.

Recent documents are off by default. If you enable recent documents, Blobster stores local metadata such as document name, format, size, and timestamp. Blobster does not store document contents or edited document contents in extension storage.

Temporary incoming documents may be stored briefly in browser extension storage to pass data between extension entry points and the viewer. This is local browser storage and is not transmitted to Blobster or any third party.

Website Content

Blobster requests website access so it can detect and open high-confidence raw structured pages, import selected text, open links, and preempt browser downloads for supported structured files. Website content is used only to provide these user-facing Blobster features.

Blobster does not track browsing history for analytics or profiling, and it does not sell, transfer, or share website content with third parties.

Third Parties

Blobster does not sell or transfer user data to third parties except as required by law or as necessary to comply with Chrome Web Store and browser platform requirements.

Blobster does not use user data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose, and it does not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
